First of all… I’m a Woman! Laboratories of make- up for women receiving chemotherapy.
The chemotherapy treatments often put a strain on the self-esteem of women, which is facing many changes suddenly as body: hair loss, pallor, dry skin, which inevitably interfere in the acceptance of the disease and who have considerable repercussions in the person’s life, both in family relationships in which the external ones. This project has the aim of supporting the woman in such a difficult time of their lives: taking care of the physical aspect will help the patient to take care of themselves, to feel beautiful and above all to feel even a woman!
The workshops are aimed at a group of 7/8 women undergoing chemotherapy treatments, which are cared for and guided by a beauty consultant (with experience in the field) on how to enhance their physical appearance, how to hide the signs of therapy. Besides the beauty consultants is present at each sitting support of a psycho-oncologist, who leads the group by encouraging the participation and sharing of women. During the pilot phase, the first center of Oncology in which the project has been activated is the ‘Cannizzaro Hospital of Catania; In 2012 and 2013 the project has been activated in other cancer treatment centers in Sicily.
